About Us
Maine Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and well being of Maine people by funding cancer research, education and patient support programs. 100% of the funds raised remain here in Maine. The foundation was established in 1976 by a small group of concerned citizens who had lost loved ones to cancer. Thanks to their efforts, and the support of thousands of others, Maine Cancer Foundation has made a difference in the fight against cancer, providing a millions of dollars in grant funding.
Julie Marchese and Abby Bliss co-founded Tri for a Cure in 2008 as an opportunity for Maine women to raise funds and show their support for cancer victims, patients and survivors. Marchese, herself a cancer survivor, and Bliss, a dedicated triathlete and volunteer, combined their passions for health and supporting Maine Cancer Foundation’s mission to create Tri for A Cure. Now an annual event, Tri for a Cure is the largest triathlon in the state of Maine with over 850 participants and many thousands of spectators.
Thank you for joining Maine Cancer Foundation on the road to better health, we hope to see you at the Tri for a Cure!
